February is National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month
In February we think about love – in our relationships, in our families, in our community. At Kendall County Women’s Shelter (KCWS), we care about families and relationships. KCWS offers victims of family violence support services and a safe place to stay when they experience abuse within a relationship that should cultivate love. As women and children continue to find refuge at KCWS, we are finding that an astounding number of young people are experiencing violence within their homes and within their relationships.
While February is a month often devoted to love, it is also National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month. KCWS is doing our part to educate the youth of Kendall County about what makes up healthy relationships through Safe Dates Teen Dating Violence Prevention Program. This curriculum is currently being implemented in both our BISD high schools and the Boys and Girls Club after-school and summer programs.
We are continuing our conversation about healthy relationships within our schools and communities. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our youth.
