Which session is right for you?

Advocacy Update: This 90 minute update is reserved for volunteers who attended the three day training sessions led by Reverend Kim Burke and Cindy Glick in January 2012.  Participants will receive specific information from our shelter manager and leave with everything they need to know to volunteer directly with clients.

Introduction: Attending this one hour introduction session is the first step to becoming a Kendall County Women's Shelter (KCWS) volunteer.  Participants will hear agency history, mission and vision statements as well as understanding the volunteer process and the numerous volunteer opportunities that are available with our organization.  By the end of the session, you will know if the KCWS is the right organization for you to support with your valuable time and talent.

Orientation: This 90 minute session is required for all KCWS new volunteers.  Participants will be introduced to our board and staff and will receive valuable information on policies and procedures.  Because our client's safety is our first concern, it is important for all volunteers to understand the unique requirements for volunteering in the domestic violence field. Completion of online training is required prior to attendance.

Basic Training: This two hour session completes the basic requirements for all new KCWS volunteers.  Knowledge is power, and participants who attend this session will receive educational information about domestic violence that translates to an empowered community.

Additional training dates and locations in April will be posted soon!
