Beyond the Facade
Behind the seemingly idyllic facade of affluent communities lies a stark and often hidden truth: domestic violence affects one in three women and one in seven men, regardless of zip code, income level, or background. It’s a crisis that doesn’t discriminate—and in Kendall County and beyond, KCWS is meeting that crisis head-on.
What began in 2005 as a simple crisis hotline has grown into a comprehensive support system for survivors. Today, KCWS operates a custom-built, 32-bed shelter, providing families not only with physical safety but with dignity, care, and the foundation to truly heal.
KCWS offers so much more than a place to stay. Survivors often face a web of challenges—limited transportation, lack of affordable childcare and housing, and the long-term emotional impact of abuse. KCWS addresses these barriers with:
24/7 trauma-informed staff
Individualized case management
Therapeutic services
Legal advocacy and support
These services help clients navigate daunting transitions, rebuild their lives, and regain their sense of worth and autonomy.
